5 Ways To Spice Up Your Elevator Pitch

OK, so you know that you need to improve your pitch at networking events, but you’re not sure exactly how to do it. Here are 5 strategies that are sure to make you stand out from the crowd:

1. Bring a prop – Is there a physical object that will give people a ‘hook’ to remember you by? Maybe it could be a symbol of your company, or one of your products.

2. Use humour – if you are not feeling particularly witty, borrow from others. The Internet - as well as your local bookshop - is full of humorous quotes that you can steal mercilessly for your own ends! Do always give credit for the quote – it’s likely that your listeners will have heard it before. Not knowing who said it originally is very frustrating.

3. Examples – people will probably forget most of the details of your pitch (because the mind cannot absorb too much information at the same time), but a vivid example of what you have done for a previous customer has a much greater chance of making you memorable.
4. Upset expectations - surprise the audience (without offending them, of course).

5. An irresistible offer – what offer with the Wow factor can you present at the end of your pitch? Add a price tag so people know that it actually has real value to them.
